Japanese Sweets

Cute Little Chickens, Too Good to Eat
Almost!!!
Following on from yesterday`s culinary log (did you try the recipe??) thought I`d introduce you today to Japanese Sweets. Like everything you buy in Japan they are equisitely packaged individually.
These are one of my favourites. They are little chicken shaped sponge cakes filled with white-bean paste ( I`m assured they are chickens although to me they look more like doves or pigeons). They are a speciality of both Tokyo and Kyushu, and these ones called Hiyo-ko are made by Yoshino-do in Kyushu. A colleague brought them back to the institute, and they are ALMOST too good to eat. But not quite!!!!!!!
(

They do look 'sweet'. Just had to add a comment here, can't have these photos being the only lonely ones with No Comment! Thu 17-May-2007 12:59

Mark`s Quick and Easy Snacks # 1

Ingredients
GENTLY
Shichimi to taste
View all 4 photos...
For today`s log I`m going to show you how to make a quick and easy snack just perfect for those days when youve come in from work feeling peckish and can`t wait the 30 minutes for the rice to boil.

Ingredients (Foto 1)
For this recipe you will need:
    Grilled Shrimp & Pepper Pringles
(do you have these back home? if you can`t get them you can substitute with ones of your choice)
    Craft Ready Cut Cheese
(try not to substitute this as the pre-cut size is just perfect)
    Shichimi RED pepper
(it doesn`t have to be in a bamboo dispenser, but it helps)

Step 1:

Whilst GENTLY holding a pringle, slap on a slice of pre-cut cheese (Foto 2)
Step 2:

Add a smattering of Shichimi (Foto 3)
Step 3:
Cover with another pringle

VOILA!!!
A crispy, cheesy, shichimiy, grilled shrimp and pepper pringle sandwich!
Now WHAT shall we call it?
comments appreciated

Arrrggghhhhh!!!!

Dont you just love Monday mornings?
One of my Japanese friends flatteringly tells me I look like James Bond!! Not if he saw me looking like this.

HaHaHa, Mr.Bond, I find your special skill from these photos.
You can turn into Mr.Bond from Mr.Bean within a few minute!

Hi all. This is my first fotopage.
Ive been in Japan for 4 years and intend to keep a diary of pictures on here. Ive got hundreds and hundreds and I`ll upload favorites on days when i dont have any new / interesting ones to include. Anyway for my first log, these are images taken in and around Nagoya during the cherry blossom season which lasts for about 2 weeks during April every year.
