Maori stuff

thought id show you a bit of maori culture. theseare the things that decorate the traditional Maori meeting houses. they are sort of like red indian totem poles, and the pictures have meaning that traces the ancestry of that particular family or clan. dont fully understand it all but i know that the way the tongue is pointing when they do the challenge dance before you are allowed to enter is one indication of the hostility of the clan to outsiders. if it points left they are friendly and if right they are hostile (or is it the other way round? pretty important to know i guess ( i guess one means they want to eat you and the other maybe give you a friendly lick )

A very intricate design... Sat 24-Sep-2005 18:46

#2 is beautiful & great piece of work. #3 is also nice, the boat in the deep blue waters, is between the green pasture and the nice view of the whole city of houses. Mon 26-Sep-2005 15:17

Some say love.........

Quote:
it is a river
that drowns the tender reed
Some say love it is a razor
that leaves your soul to bleed

Some say love it is a hunger
an endless aching need
I say love it is a flower
and you it's only seed

It's the heart afraid of breaking
that never learns to dance
It's the dream afraid of wakingthat never takes the chance
It's the one who won't be taken
who cannot seem to give
and the soul afraid of dyingthat never learns to live

When the night has been too lonely
and the road has been too long
and you think that love is only
for the lucky and the strong
Just remember in the winterfar beneath the bitter snows
lies the seed
that with the sun's love
in the spring
becomes the rose

The Rose, Bette Midler

In flight (II)

its much easier to get one in the centre of the image when theres lots of them

"I'm Like A Bird"

You're beautiful, that's for sure
You'll never ever fade
You're lovely but it's not for sure
That I won't ever change
And though my love is rare
Though my love is true

[Chorus:]
I'm like a bird, I'll only fly away
I don't know where my soul is, I don't know where my home is
(and baby all I need for you to know is)
I'm like a bird, I'll only fly away
I don't know where my soul is , I don't know where my home is
All I need for you to know is

Your faith in me brings me to tears
Even after all these years
And it pains me so much to tell
That you don't know me that well
And though my love is rare
Though my love is true

[Chorus]

It's not that I wanna say goodbye
It's just that every time you try to tell me that you love me
Each and every single day I know
I'm going to have to eventually give you away
And though my love is rare
And though my love is true
Hey I'm just scared
That we may fall through

Creatures of the Deep IV - Some kind of orange fish

continuing the sunday "creatures of the deep" set. not that im too happy with these, but eh lifes a beach
PRETTY dramatic 24 hours here in Auckland. FIRST, yesterday was general election and the incumbent labour party, despite being over 10% down in the polls at one stage endedup securing a 40.4 v 40% "majority". All they need to do now is work out how that is gonna help them make a government thats govenrable. BUT ANYWAY, while that was on TV a newsflash said someone had stolen a light aircraft and was threatening to crash it in to the Auckland sky tower, a huge tourist attraction here. The guy ended up crashing ok, into the ocean RIGHT AT THE BOTTOM OF OUR STREET!!!!!!!! went down there for a look and there it was, a plane sticking out of the sea. THEN, a huge storm in the night, drove along the waterfront this morning and there was any number of boats blown off their moorings and into the rocks. AND TO TOP IT ALL OFF,......i hit some pretty good 7-irons yesterday. Not sure i could take another 24 hours like that

come on guys, my golf swing needs some work, anyone out there got any advice?????

It doesn't matter; golf is a good walk spoiled anyway. I'll drive the cart and keep the beers cold -- you go ahead and get frustrated! Mon 19-Sep-2005 16:33
