OK, im continuing my Sunday "Creatures of the Deep" series. But you`ll need to enlarge these to really see them. was down on the beach on a late afternoon and these fish were just leaping from the water for all they were worth. I coudnt work out why they would do that, were they trying to catch something? then i saw a heron or something pop up out of the water. He would dive back down and stay there for ages. So i assume that the fish were avioding being food rather than looking for it. Thats the only explanation i could come up with. Do you have a better one?

shall i tell you what being chosen as editors choice does? i was amazed when i looked at my statistics this morning, my average of 200 odd views per day was bumped up to almost 4000!!!!!! unless thats a fotopages bug or something. is yours like normal? im not complaining, but it makes the previous days look pretty pitiful

think ive told you before about my favourite time on the beach. when i looked at these fotos on the camera i almost deleted them, i thought the light was funny with the sun shining in the lens. its only when i got home and saw them on the pc that i realised i liked them

when i first posted some of these bits of wood sticking out the ocean, you know at boat jetties and stuff, well the venerable Mr JP Harr told me they werent called sleepers. now the thing is, i KNEW they werent called sleepers when i posted them, but i cant for the heck of me remember what theyre called in english. i guess thats what 5 years in japan does for you. so what do you call them??? answers on a postcard please
